Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: July 26, 2026

PageRemarks provides shared discussions associated with publicly accessible web pages. This policy explains what the PageRemarks browser extension and website collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

How we use information

We use this information only to authenticate accounts, associate discussions with pages, display and moderate user contributions, deliver reply notifications, prevent abuse, maintain security, and support the service. PageRemarks does not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or use it for credit or lending decisions.

Public information

Discussion URLs and titles, display names, profile images, comments, replies, and aggregate activity may be visible to other users and website visitors. Email addresses, authentication credentials, individual vote and page-request records, and reports are not public. Do not post private or sensitive information in public comments.

Service provider and transfers

PageRemarks uses Google Firebase for Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, and Hosting. Data is transmitted over HTTPS and may be processed where Google and its subprocessors operate. We disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect users, the service, or others.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

PageRemarks's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through browser permissions is used only to provide the user-facing PageRemarks functionality described above.

Retention and deletion

We keep account and service data while your account is active and as reasonably needed for operation, security, dispute resolution, and legal obligations. You can edit or remove your own comments and delete your account from your profile. Account deletion removes your account and private records, removes your profile image, and anonymizes contributions that must remain to preserve discussion structure. You may also request access, correction, or deletion by emailing support@pageremarks.com.

Your choices

The extension asks for consent before accessing the active tab or connecting to Firebase. You can decline by closing or uninstalling the extension. You can update your profile, reset your password, withdraw consent by clearing the extension's site data or uninstalling it, and exercise applicable privacy rights by contacting us.

Security and children

We use access controls, validation rules, HTTPS, email verification, and least-privilege browser permissions. No system is completely secure. PageRemarks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service or law changes. Material changes will be identified by a new date on this page. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to support@pageremarks.com.
